The Spinx Co. in December 2021 had a grand reopening to celebrate a complete remodeling of its Orangeburg, S.C., location. The location now offers a Tesla Supercharger station with eight stalls, a full-service kitchen and diesel truck lanes.

Also in 2021, Spinx was named one of the best places to work in South Carolina by the state’s Chamber of Commerce and the Best Companies Group and bumped starting wages to $12 per hour for full-time employees.

Spinx also launched a self-checkout program to maximize team members’ roles and to boost customer service. It aims to have self-checkout in all locations by the third quarter of 2022.

Spinx, which began in 1972 with a home heating oil delivery service and one convenience store in Greenville, operates 84 locations, including c-stores and tunnel car washes. Newest c-stores have full-service kitchens. The company employs more than 1,400 associates through its stores, food operations and related businesses.
