Martin & Bayley Inc. operates Huck's, a chain of large-format convenience stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. The Martin and Bayley families sold the company to employees in 2001, making it a 100% employee-owned company.

The stores offer a wide variety of groceries, freshly prepared hot foods and other convenience items in a clean and vibrant environment. Fried chicken, Godfather's pizza, hot dogs, Bigg Subb and Quiznos sandwiches and other foods are available to customers 24 hours a day, along with a large selection of Daybreak premium coffees and frozen and cold soft drinks from the chain's branded Bigg Swigg fountain beverage program.

The chain differentiates its stores from competitors by offering brands and new products that few competitors sell, such as oil, bacon, fried chicken and wine under private-label brands.

In 2020, Huck's partnered with GSP, a Clearwater, Fla.-based retail services provider, to refresh and modernize its brand and update the store's retail environment and decor. The first new Huck's Market store designed by GSP was a 4,800-square-foot prototype c-store in Seymour, Indiana, according to a news release from GSP.

Children are a large part of Huck's mission statement, and the company is in its 18th year of its Karing for Kids program, which gives children in need $150 to enable them to fulfill their Christmas wishes.

For benchmarking purposes, store counts are as of Jan. 1, 2021.
