Group purchasing firm Unity Advantage Group is looking to artificial intelligence (AI) to boost its offerings.

The Atlanta-based group purchasing organization for foodservice operators, including convenience stores, on Tuesday announced a partnership with Pepper, an online ordering platform that is powered by AI and designed to serve independent distributors.

“Partnering with Pepper is a strategic move that aligns perfectly with our mission to drive value through innovation and service,” Jennifer Wood, Unity’s director of sales and marketing, said. “Pepper’s robust technology and advanced analytics capabilities will allow us to enhance our offerings, ensuring that members and operators receive unparalleled insights and efficiency in supply chain operations.”

Operators, brands and distributors served by Unity will have access to new business intelligence dashboards with real-time analytics and data, thanks to the Pepper partnership.

“Unity’s deep-rooted relationships with local operators, suppliers and independent distributors requires quick access to information, which is why we chose Pepper’s advanced capabilities,” Wood said. “Together, we are setting a new standard for efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the foodservice industry.”

New York City-based Pepper was founded in 2019. The company now has more than 200 food distribution customers and more than 28,000 active operators, according to its website.

Founded in 2018, Unity Advantage Group offers more than 350 supplier programs designed to optimize supply chain efficiency.

“Unity helps deliver real value to the operators, brands and distributors they serve, so we are proud to be able to provide real-time analytics and data that will bring even more value to our shared customers,” Pepper co-founder and CEO Bowie Cheung said.
