NCR Voyix, a technology company used by several convenience-store chains such as bp, Shell, Circle K, Stinker Stores and Weigel’s, laid off staff on June 27, according to an email David Wilkinson, the company’s CEO, sent to employees.

The company, which provides retailers products such as self-checkout, point-of-sale (POS) software and payments and loyalty programs, did not disclose how many people it let go. As of Dec. 31, NCR Votyix had approximately 15,500 employees worldwide, according to the company’s 2023 annual report. The United States was home to about 35% of employees at that time.

“The steps we take now will help us streamline our organization, with an enhanced focus on profitable growth following the spin-out of our ATM business (NCR Atleos),” he said in the email.

NCR Atleos completed the spinoff from NCR Voyix and launched as an independent public company in October 2023.

“This will enable us to move forward with our long-term strategy of becoming a focused platform software and services company,” Wilkinson said in his email.
