Convenience-store chain Yesway is starting a new tradition on Sept. 7 as it declares the date World Famous Burrito Day. The inaugural celebration, taking place Saturday, will include a buy one Beef and Bean Burrito, get one free deal.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Allsup’s burrito. Sept. 7 is significant because it marks the birthday of Lonnie Allsup, founder of the Allsup’s convenience-store chain that Yesway acquired in 2019. The date also commemorates the company’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration of the Allsup’s deep-fried burrito.

  • BW Gas & Convenience Holdings LLC, which owns Yesway and Allsup’s, is No. 18 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by store count.

The buy one, get one free offer is available to Yesway and Allsup’s Rewards members at all locations where Allsup’s Burritos are sold. The celebration will continue throughout September and October. During these months, rewards members who buy two Pepsi or Mountain Dew 20-ounce bottled beverages can purchase a burrito for 50 cents.

Allsup’s World Famous Beef and Bean Burritos are handmade with slow-cooked beans, beef, cheese and a unique blend of spices. They are served wrapped up and can be topped with Allsup’s Taco Sauce.

“We are thrilled to mark this tremendous year, which included the launch of online sales of the Allsup’s Burrito, Chimi and Taco Sauce and the introduction of the Allsup’s Pizza Burrito,” Derek Gaskins, Yesway’s chief marketing officer, said. “We thank our loyal customers for celebrating with us and invite them to be on the lookout for more celebrations, and here’s to 50 more years!"
