Sheetz opens four new stores, announces three promotions

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. celebrated the grand openings of four new stores over the past two months. The Altoona, Pa.-based convenience store retailer also has made some management position changes.

Most recently, on January 19, the 300-plus-store retailer held a grand opening for its new 6,000-sq.-ft. store in Hagerstown, Md. (pictured), which replaced the Sheetz store that opened nearly 20 years ago in that community. The new store features the Sheetz Bros. Coffeez Espresso Bar staffed by a professional barista, as well as a broad made-to-order menu [image-nocss] prepared in an open-kitchen environment.

A week earlier, Sheetz celebrated the grand opening of a new store in New Castle, Pa., with a $2,500 donation to two area schoolsNew Castle High School and Neshannock High School.

Similarly, on January 5, Sheetz held a grand opening for a new store in Moon Township, Pa., with a $2,500 donation to Moon Area High School for the purchase of SMART Boards to enhance classroom instruction. And on December 8, the company opened a new store in Mebane, N.C., with a $2,500 donation to Orange High School to support after-school programming.

In other Sheetz news, the company made three management promotions to fill openings:

Dave Woodley was promoted to vice president of product sales and development, overseeing all categories. Doug Mills was promoted to foodservice sales manager, assuming Mark Smith's former responsibilities. And John Notte assumed the newly created position of manager of coffee concepts.
