Maverik broke ground on two new stores in Kansas, marking the convenience-store chain’s entry into its 14th state of operation. The two new stores are located at 50 E. Acraway Ave. and 2601 E. Mary St. in Garden City, Kansas.

Maverik expects to open both stores, on the western side of the state, by mid-2025.

“Maverik is focused on expanding in areas that have unmet needs for fuel, great food and adventure,” Maverik CEO and Chief Adventure Guide Crystal Maggelet said. “Thanks to the state's central location, our entry into Kansas positions us to serve even more customers with freshly prepared food, extensive beverage options and exceptional fuel discounts throughout their Midwest travels.”

Maggelet stepped into the CEO role in July after serving as interim CEO since Chuck Maggelet retired in May.

The new Maverik stores will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The 5,982-square-foot store on Acraway Avenue will have truck and RV fueling lanes, an RV dump and a picnic area. The 4,425-square-foot store on Mary Street will have an auto fuel forecourt and a picnic area. Both stores will offer a full lineup of freshly prepared food offerings like burritos, sandwiches, pizzas and more. Maverik’s bean-to-cup coffee will include premium coffee blends with a selection of pastries, the chain said.

Maverik recently marked the first anniversary of acquiring the Kum & Go convenience-store chain by celebrating the completion of its Colorado store rebrands and donating $1 million to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Maverik has completed 97 rebrands across Utah and Colorado, with the goal of offering its customers a unified, consistent experience across store food offerings, in-store experience, product selection, rewards programs, customer service and more, the company said.

Salt Lake City-based Maverik has more than 500 locations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and soon-to-be Kansas.
