Convenience-store retailer 7-Eleven Inc. and ID.me, an identity network company that allows members to provide proof of their legal identity and community affiliations online, are rolling out a new loyalty rewards fuel program for veterans, active-duty military, first responders, nurses, teachers and students, 7-Eleven has announced.
All customers who qualify using ID.me can receive a 5-cents-per-gallon discount on fuel, and all students can receive a 3-cent fuel discount, the retailer said.
New and existing 7Rewards members can stack the everyday discount with additional deals in the 7Rewards app for more savings, it said.
“We are really excited about this new fuel discount offer with ID.me. This program recognizes and rewards ID.me members across the country who are important to all our lives everyday: veterans, military, first responders, nurses, teachers and students for purchases made via our 7Rewards app,” said Steven Flores, vice president of fuels pricing for 7-Eleven. “With the summer travel season upon us, now is the perfect time to get additional discounts on fuel at 7-Eleven. These extra fuel discounts are stackable with our everyday fuel discounts and other fuel offers that are sent out to 7Rewards members, including our Price Lock feature. There is no better time or way to save on fuel purchases than now through 7Rewards.”
7-Eleven Fuel Price Lock enables customers to select a fuel grade, search local participating stores and find the best price for that type of gasoline or diesel. Once locked, the price is good at participating stores for four days. If the price at the store is lower than the one a customer locked earlier, the lower price will be honored, subject to the terms and conditions in the 7Rewards app.
“As the first major convenience store to launch a Price Lock offer, we help drivers find the best price for gasoline based on their location,” Flores said.
ID.me members must download the 7-Eleven app and within their account and verify their status under Community Discounts., according to the ID.me website. Discounts apply only to applicable stores listed within the 7-Rewards app. Members can apply discounts for fillups up to 25 gallons, and they can stack discounts up to $1 per gallon. If a member belongs to multiple ID.me communities, they can claim the highest eligible discount. The highest community discount stacks with other types of fuel discounts, including the everyday 5-cents-per-gallon offer.
