Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets Acquiring 17 Mini Mart Locations

Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets, a New Braunfels, Texas-based convenience-store retailer, is acquiring the Mini Mart c-store chain of 17 locations in Texas. Owned by Sylvia Fritz Dobbs and David Fritz and based in Kerrville, Texas, the company operates 17 convenience stores, 11 in Kerrville, two in Fredericksburg and one each in Bandera, Center Point, Comfort and Ingram, Texas.

The companies expect the sale to be finalized by the end of October. They did not disclose the price tag or other terms of the transaction.

Good Hands

The owners announce the sale on their home page, www.mini-mart.com, under the headline “Heading Into Good Hands”:

“Sylvia Fritz Dobbs and David Fritz are excited to announce the upcoming sale of all Mini Mart locations to Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets, based locally in New Braunfels since 1977. Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets has stores located throughout the central Texas Hill Country, including one on Main Street in Kerrville since 1981. Like Mini Mart, Fischer’s takes pride in caring for the people and communities they serve. Learn more about their values here.

In a press release, they added, “The Fritz and Fischer family has known each other professionally for almost 50 years. … Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets has been based locally in New Braunfels since 1977, with stores located throughout the Central Texas Hill Country, including one on Main Street in Kerrville since 1981. Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets and Mini Mart share the same values. We both take pride in caring for the teams and communities we serve.

Mini-Mart started in 1973 when Junior and Ann opened their first store in Kerrville, Texas.The Mini Mart chain reached a milestone in 2023 when it celebrated 50 years in business.

“After five decades of Mini Mart ownership,” said Sylvia Fritz Dobbs, “a lot of pride and memories were sorted through before the family could reach this decision.”

“We love the Hill Country,” they said. “We grew up here, our families live here, and we’re staying here. We look forward to continuing to give back to our community in any way we can.”

R.I.S.E. and Shine

Dobbs and Fritz link their announcement to a series of YouTube videos by Fischer's Neighborhood Markets’ President Rodney Fischer, who explains that the chain operates under a set of core values called “R.I.S.E. U.P.,” an acronym for “Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Unceasing Growth and Passion.” He offers details on each letter of this initiative and “why it’s so important for our customers, vendors and employees that we adhere to” those values.
