Sheetz opened its first location in the Wilmington, North Carolina, area on July 9. The Altoona, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain’s new store is located at 17000 U.S. Highway 17, Hampstead, North Carolina.

This is Sheetz’s southernmost c-store in North Carolina. Others in the state are located near Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham and Raleigh, according to its website. The chain has also eyed the Asheville, North Carolina, market.

  • Sheetz is No. 13 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

Sheetz held a grand opening for the Hampstead store, including a grand prize giveaway of free Sheetz for a Year, the value of a $2,500 Sheetz gift card. Customers who attended the grand opening were also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate. The chain also donated $2,500 to Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and $2,500 to the Special Olympics of North Carolina.

Sheetz will offer its Made-to-Order menu at the Hampstead location, where customers can order any of Sheetz’s specialty drinks or food items around the clock.

Sheetz operates more than 730 c-stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland, with all locations open 24/7, 365 days a year.
