EG America Promotes Whitney Johnson to Senior Vice President of Marketing

Convenience-store leader joined the company in June as vice president of loyalty and digital commerce

EG America, Westborough, Massachusetts, promoted Whitney Johnson to senior vice president of marketing. Johnson joined the company in June as vice president of loyalty and digital commerce.

In her new role, she will continue to lead loyalty, digital commerce, advertising and social media, as well as the company's tobacco business, guest services and other support functions.   

Johnson has led the transformation of the loyalty program and go to market strategies and developed short- and long-term growth strategies for loyalty, digital commerce, retail media and third-party delivery. She has also established key external partnerships, created new revenue streams and recruited and hired talent to support the growth of her team.

“In very short order, Whitney has made significant contributions that have transformed and enhanced vital areas of our company and accelerated growth,” said John Carey, president and CEO. “Her passion, expertise and forward-thinking approach are helping us to drive our business forward in new and innovative ways.”

Prior to joining EG America, Johnson founded Capstone Growth Advisors, a consulting firm focused on consumer-packaged goods (CPG), e-commerce and retail sectors. Before that, she led grocery merchandising and category management for GoBrands Inc. and held senior roles in merchandising strategy, loyalty and category management at Murphy USA and Sunoco.

EG America, which has 1,578 convenience stores, began with an initial acquisition in the United States of Cincinnati, Ohio-based Kroger Co.'s 762 convenience stores in April 2018. That same year, EG Group acquired Westlake, Ohio-based TravelCenters of America's 225 standalone Minit Mart c-stores. EG Group in 2019 acquired 54 locations for East Syracuse, New York-based Fastrac; 69 locations from Columbus, Ohio-based Certified Oil; and 566 locations from Westborough, Massachusetts-based Cumberland Farms.
