Compañía de Petróleos de Chile S.A. (COPEC), a subsidiary of holding company Empresas Copec S.A., Santiago, Chile, in 2023 exited the U.S. convenience-store market it entered about seven years ago through a deal with Delek U.S. Holdings Inc., Brentwood, Tennessee, to acquire Mapco Express Inc. for $535 million.

In November, Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., Laval, Quebec, completed a transaction with COPEC for the acquisition of 112 company-operated Mapco retail sites. At the same time, Lawrenceville, Georgia-based Majors Management completed the acquisition of 192 Mapco-branded convenience stores in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Kentucky.

  • In February, Couche-Tard acquired 45 Big Red Stores in Arkansas from Summerwood Partners LLC, Bryant, Arkansas.
  • In May, Couche-Tard acquired 11 Dion’s Quik Chik convenience stores in the Florida Keys from Uphoff Ventures LLC, Chester, Virginia.
