Retailer Employs New CPG Performance Tracker

Tool measures productivity of sales and vendors

TORRANCE, Calif. -- A 350-site convenience-store chain will be among the first retailers in the U.S. to employ a new analytics tool that aims to improve communication between vendors and retailers to drive efficiencies and improve buying decisions.

Torrance, Calif.-based Mobil PBD West is bringing software provider Service Calibrate's analytics tool to its c-stores in California, Arizona and Louisiana.

“Using this platform we are able to quantify service, gauge customer satisfaction and have full visibility to our sales team and stores … from my headquarter office,” said Charles Khalil, president of Mobil PBD West. “With a few clicks, I can easily verify who services my retail stores and how often. I am saving thousands of dollars from remotely monitoring my staff across three different states and ensuring that my stores are well stocked with inventory and all my stores are following the promotions and schematics.”

The new tool allows retailers, manufacturers and distributors to measure service more accurately on a multichannel digital platform. The technology aims to improve communication between vendors and retailers to drive efficiencies and improve buying decisions.

The software uses real-time data analytics to measure the quantity and quality of service provided by its users in a digital, touchscreen data mapping format. Multi-account retailers can gauge the daily performance of their entire sales team and vendors from any computer or hand-held device.

Vendors can use the system’s promotion activation features to run marketing campaigns for stores and consumers at the touch of a button. CPG manufacturers can gauge their distributors, brokers or affiliates performance in retail stores and distribution centers without labor-intensive fact finding.

Laguna Niguel, Calif.-based Service Calibrate aims to change how business contracts are awarded, which vendors or manufacturers are chosen and accurately quantify which companies provide the best service for their products.
