Huck’s Market is partnering with Tote to modernize its stores with an AI-native, cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) platform at the convenience store’s flagship location in Carmi, Illinois.
Huck’s is planning on a chainwide rollout by the end of 2026. The initial deployment includes self-checkout, with additional point-of-sale and fuel capabilities rolling out in subsequent phases.

As Tote’s first convenience-store design partner, Huck’s Market participated in the development of the platform by providing operational input from live store environments. The retailer’s feedback informed system refinements related to usability, interface layout and transaction workflows to better align with the demands of fuel and convenience retail, Huck’s said.
"We've always been willing to invest in technology that can truly make a difference for our customers and our team," said Murat Tokad, president and CEO of Martin & Bayley, Inc., parent company of Huck’s Market. "Working with Tote from the earliest stages allowed us to influence how this platform works in real-world convenience-store operations. We're proud to be the first to bring this technology to our customers and demonstrate what's possible when retailers embrace innovation."
For Huck’s Market’s operations and IT teams, the shift to a centralized, cloud-based system simplifies tasks like fuel price updates, enabling changes to be made centrally and pushed to stores in real time, without the need for on-site intervention, Huck’s said.
Early feedback from Huck’s Market indicates faster transaction times, simplified product lookup and a cleaner, more intuitive user interface compared with prior systems, the company said. Store managers also cited clearer transaction prompts, including improved identification of Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT)-eligible items. In addition, embedded on-screen support tools provide associates with immediate access to POS guidance and training resources at the register.
"Our associates are excited about working with a system that actually makes their jobs easier," Tokad said. "Whether they're managing the morning rush or processing fuel transactions, the platform supports them with the tools they need to deliver the kind of service Huck's Market is known for."
The interface simplifies tasks for customers such as entering loyalty numbers, enrolling in the loyalty program, reviewing purchases and responding to prompts like Huck’s Market’s round-up donation program.
"Huck's Market embodies the kind of forward-thinking approach we built this platform to support," said Shyam Rao, founder and CEO of Tote. "Their willingness to be our first convenience-store design partner, their valuable operational insights and their commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences made them the ideal partner to prove what modern technology can do for fuel and convenience retail. Murat and the entire Huck’s leadership team had a clear vision early on for what this platform could deliver, and we're honored to deliver a platform that meets their exacting standards."
Tote’s hardware-agnostic platform allowed Huck’s Market to modernize without replacing existing terminals, lowering both implementation complexity and cost while keeping operations uninterrupted, the chain said.
