LOS ANGELES — Plant-based snack company Outstanding Foods has introduced PigOut Pigless Pork Rinds, which are a vegan alternative to traditional fried pig skins.

The rinds are packed with protein, baked until light and crispy and seasoned to create an authentic pork taste, according to the company.

Pigless Pork Rinds are available in Original, Nacho Cheese, Hella Hot and Texas BBQ. Each 3.5-ounce bag has 25 grams of plant-based protein and is free of gluten, soy, GMOs, cholesterol and trans fats, according to the company. The rinds’ top three ingredients are rice, high-oleic expeller pressed sunflower oil and pea protein.

The snack is also vegan and kosher. It retails for $3.99 for a 3.5-ounce bag and $1.79 for a 1-ounce bag.

Los Angeles-based Outstanding Foods is also working on a second version of its PigOut Chips. The reshaped chip will taste and look like a bacon strip, the company said.
