Sheetz Sees New Opportunities for Growth in Hagerstown, Md.

New location, the first in 10 years, opened August 18

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Sheetz Inc. opening its first new store in Hagerstown, Md., in more than 10 years on August 18. The first 50 Sheetz customers in line will win a $100 Sheetz Z-card and be among the first to enjoy the new Sheetz experience.

At other recent Sheetz store openings in North Carolina offering the same prizes, people out have lined up as early as 4:30 a.m. People stayed in line at a new store in Pittsburgh for more than 17 hours, the company said.

Customers can play games to win prizes and enjoy samples of Sheetz food and beverages.

While Sheetz [image-nocss] continues to scout out new markets for expansion, the company sees Hagerstown as a great growth opportunity because the company already has a "solid base" there. "We opened our first Hagerstown store in 1982. That 30 year relationship with the community there is something we value greatly," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "We are eager to open this newest location and give our customers there a bigger, better in-store experience."

The 6,000 square-foot facility will offer fresh food items like the MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with the signature MTO line of Angus beef burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more.

Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista is going to be available at the new store. Customers can order handmade specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas--hot, frozen or iced.

"Sheetz has a legacy of innovation, customer focus and employee development," Stan Sheetz said. "The company's mission today is on meeting the needs of customers on the go by providing fast and friendly service, quality products in clean and convenient locations."

Sheetz also has a tradition of giving back to the communities in which it operates. Especially important to the organization is finding ways to be involved with young people. As part of the Hagerstown grand opening, the company made a donation to Special Olympics Maryland. Sheetz has been a supporter of Special Olympics since 1992, making monetary and product contributions as well as providing event volunteers.

Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz, Inc. is one of America's fastest growing family-owned and operated convenience store chains, with more than $4.9 billion in revenue for 2010 and more than 14,500 employees. The company operates more than 395 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
