Couche-Tard Upgrading Kangaroo Express Fountains

Convenience-store chain also rolling out 69-cent Polar Pop Cup

CARY, N.C. – Many Kangaroo Express convenience stores throughout the Southeast are receiving upgraded fountain equipment, the first of many new upgrades that customers will see as a result of the chain’s acquisition by Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., which operates in the United States mostly under the Circle K brand.

Kangaroo Express has also announced that the Polar Pop Cup, made from polar foam, is now available year round in any size for 69 cents plus tax at participating convenience stores throughout the Southeast.

The cup is specially made from polar foam to ensure that drinks stay colder longer, the company said.

“Polar Pop Cup is the perfect way to cool down at a great value, providing even more options for our loyal store guests,” said Will Rice, vice president of operations for the South Atlantic region. “We invite fans to stop in, check out the Polar Pop Corner and keep the savings flowing all year long on drinks and on-the-go meals and snacks!”

The chain is encouraging fans to share their Polar Pop Cup experiences through social media using the hashtag #PolarPopNation.

On March 17, 2015, Laval, Quebec-based Couche-Tard acquired The Pantry Inc., Cary, N.C., which operates primarily under the Kangaroo Express brand.

As of Feb. 1, 2015, Couche-Tard’s network comprised 6,314 convenience stores throughout North America, including 4,870 stores with road transportation fuel dispensing. Following the acquisition of The Pantry, it added more than 1,500 additional c-stores to the U.S. network, totaling 7,815 convenience stores. Its North-American network now consists of 13 business units, including nine in the United States covering 41 states and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces.
