Blimpie Lowers Franchising Fee for 47 Military Veterans

Celebrating 47th anniversary with limited $47 franchisee fee

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- To celebrate the brand's 47th anniversary, Blimpie sub sandwich shop is offering military veterans the American dream through a new program called Blueprint 47. Developed to reduce costs and increase the ease of opening a Blimpie franchise, the sub shop is lowering the franchise fee from $18,000 to $47 for 47 military veterans.

The Blueprint 47 program creates a practical career option for military veterans by lowering the barriers of entering into a franchised business. The first 47 veterans who apply and are approved will receive a Blimpie franchise [image-nocss] anywhere in the United States for only $47. The program began on January 15 and will continue through the end of June 2011.

"Through Blueprint 47, Blimpie has the opportunity to pay tribute to the brave men and women who valiantly served our country over the past years," said Jeff Smit, president of Blimpie. "We are committed to the success and growth of the Blimpie brand and are excited to welcome these new franchisees to our community."

Blueprint 47 is a multi-phased program created by the Blimpie development team to increase the growth of the brand. The first phase focuses on military veterans, affording opportunities to a new demographic of entrepreneurs. The second phase will assist current Blimpie franchisees interested in expanding their business into multiple units.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., Blimpie serves fresh, deli-style sandwiches along with delicious soups and salads. Founded in 1964, Blimpie has grown to approximately 1,000 franchised restaurants across the United States and Kuwait. In 2006, Blimpie became part of Kahala, one of the fastest growing franchising companies in the world with a portfolio of 12 quick-service restaurant brands.
