TravelCenters of America (TA) employees voted the convenience-store chain a 2024 Top Workplace in Northeast Ohio in a survey from cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. It received the seventh-place award.

The workplaces were split into four categories: mega workplaces (1,000-plus employees), large workplaces (with 500 to 999 employees), mid-size (with 150 to 499 employees) and small (149 employees and fewer).

In the 15th annual awards, Westlake, Ohio-based TA fell into the mega workplaces category. The convenience-store chain is a bp company and has nearly 19,000 team members and serve customers in more than 300 locations in 44 states, under the TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express brands.

  • bp is No. 7 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by total number of company-owned stores.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer revealed some of the responses from employees who took the survey.

“Everyone’s opinion counts,” said a TravelCenters of America employee. “If you have something to say, you can say it, and it will be heard. You can ask questions, and you will get an answer. My abilities are always stretched. If I feel I have too much on my plate to be effective for the company, I always have the option to ask my supervisor to evaluate my workload with me. Safety, life-work balance and ensuring you have what you need for your job are key aspects of working at TA!”

“I directly influence the talent we bring into the organization,” another TravelCenters of America employee said. “Having the ability to drive culture and our diversity recruiting strategy is exciting!”
