The convenience-store industry continues to evolve, and the people in the industry continue to advance with it, whether its new hires, promotions or retirements. Read on for news about retailers, suppliers, associations and more.

Maryann T Mannen

Retailers:

Findlay, Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum Corp. appointed Maryann Mannen as CEO effective Aug. 1. She succeeds Michael Hennigan, who will continue as the executive chairman of the board. Mannen, who joined Marathon Petroleum in 2021, will also join the board of directors. Marathon Petroleum Chairman John Surma has been elected to serve as lead director of the energy company.

 

Damian Wyatt is vice president of retail, purchasing and merchandising at Greenfield, Indiana-based Leo’s Market and Eatery. Prior to Leo’s Market and Eatery, Wyatt served as director of sales and category management at Franklin, Tennessee-based MAPCO, where he spent nearly 20 years with the retailer.  MAPCO has promoted Beth Barron as director of category management to fill Wyatt’s role. Prior to her new role, Barron was MAPCO’s category manager of tobacco. She has been in the convenience-store industry for more than 20 years, working at One Stop Express and Circle K.

 

Nate Brazier

Nate Brazier is the new president and CEO of Stinker Stores, Boise, Idaho. Prior to his new role, Brazier served as president and chief operating officer. He replaces Charley Jones, who is retiring. Brazier, who has been with the company since 2020, previously worked for Salt Lake City-based Maverik.

7-Eleven Inc. announced that Jamie Horvath,is the new director of private-brand product management, commercialization and emerging brands for the Irving, Texas retailer. The company also appointed Kia Hasheminejad as operations director for proprietary products excellence and Justin Huffman as director of sourcing. 7-Eleven also named Dan Keefe as director of 7-Eleven’s enterprise project management office.

Oklahoma City-based Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has selected Greg Ekman as its senior manager of culinary. Prior to joining Love’s, Ekman most recently was at Chicago-based bp.

Caitlyn Carr

Suppliers:

Coca-Cola Bottlers’ Sales & Services Co., a limited liability company owned by nearly 70 independent North American Coca-Cola bottlers based in Atlanta, named Caitlyn Carr as the company’s president and CEO. She succeeds Brandi Shortt. In her new role Carr will oversee more than $70 billion in procurement spend.

Northlake, Texas-based Farmer Brothers has appointed Vance Fisher as chief financial officer. The national coffee roaster, wholesaler, equipment servicer and distributor of coffee, tea and culinary products said Brad Bollner, who has served as the company’s interim CFO since August 2023, will remain with the company as its vice president of finance.

Rachel Allen

Dallas-based Flexeserve has named Rachel Paul as key accounts manager for the hot-holding manufacturer and food-to-go specialist. In her new role, Paul will manage the day-to-day operations and strategic relationships with customers, rep partners and authorized dealers.

Beth Jarocki has been appointed chief customer officer of New York City based-Kind North America, which is a subsidiary of Mars Inc. She will report to CEO Russell Stokes. Her experience spans across numerous CPG brands, including Anheuser-Busch, Kraft-Heinz and Bayer Consumer Health.

Services:

The Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) has selected John Verbeten as director of the CTP’s office of compliance and enforcement. The agency has also named Natasha Phelps as the CTP’s new associate director for policy and partnerships.

Associations:

Nav Sandhu has been named director of human resources for the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), Alexandria Virginia.In this role, Sandhu is responsible for managing all human resources-related activities for NACS and its approximately 85 employees. Prior to this role, Nandhu served as director of human resources for Illuminate Operations.

Arlington, Virginia-based SNAC International approved its 2024-2025 executive committee that includes the following officers:Justin Spannuth of Unique Snacks as chairman; Phil Gusmano of Better Made Snack Foods as first vice chairman; Veronica Villasenor of The Hershey Co. as second vice chairwoman;  Mike Harper of Rudolph Foods as past chairman;  Dan Sifer of Herr Foods as past chairman; Julie Calef of Old Dutch Foods as treasurer; Leanne Oliver of PepsiCo Foods North America as secretary;  Jeff Almond of Heat and Control as associate executive council president;  Martin Hahn of Hogan Lovells US LLP as SNAC general counsel, and SNAC President and CEO Christine Cochran of SNAC International.
