PLANO, Texas — Convenience-store supplierCrossmark is rolling out TAAT tobacco- and nicotine-free cigarettes.

Crossmark released TAAT to its accounts in Ohio, including wholesalers and distributors of consumer packaged goods (CPG) and tobacco products, key retailer accounts and individual accounts, according to TAAT Lifestyle & Wellness Ltd., Las Vegas and Vancouver, B.C.

TAAT comes in Original, Smooth and Menthol varieties. Its base material is Beyond Tobacco, a proprietary blend that undergoes a patent-pending refinement technique causing it to smell and taste like tobacco, according to the company. The product launched in the United States in fourth-quarter 2020.

TAAT is also sold on its newly launched e-commerce portal.

“These are exciting times for the company as we enter the final month of quarter one of 2021,” TAAT CEO Setti Coscarella said. “Now that our product line has had the opportunity to be tested by smokers aged 21 and up across Ohio with consistently positive reception, we can start to roll TAAT out more aggressively with the knowledge that we have a solid product formulation and commercialization playbook.”

Crossmark serves more than 7,000 c-stores in Ohio, and more than three quarters of retailers have stated an interest in carrying TAAT in their stores, he said.

Crossmark, Plano, Texas, supplies a wide range of CPG products to more than 100,000 U.S. convenience stores.
