Wawa Taps SAP

Will enable forecasting, replenishment, merchandise planning, data managing, procurement, backoffice

WAWA, Pa. --Wawa Inc. has selected SAP America Inc.'s SAP for Retail industry solution as its business management platform to integrate core operations from the storefront to the corporate backoffice, SAP said.

Solutions from SAP, a provider of enterprise solutions to the retail industry, will enable Wawa to run industry-specific business processes for store-level forecasting and replenishment and merchandise planning, while better managing point-of-sale (POS) data, procurement processes and backoffice functions, said the company.

The SAP project begins a two-year transformation impacting nearly all operations of Wawa, which has more than 540 convenience store locations in the Mid-Atlantic region, including the states of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Based on the SAP NetWeaver platform, SAP for Retail provides Wawa with a business foundation to simplify employees' jobs, the company said. SAP for Retail addresses Wawa's demand for efficient processes, integrated applications and administrative cost management. SAP's financials and merchandise solutions present Wawa with an integrated business platform to upgrade operations and realize a number of critical benefits, including elimination of costs and system redundancies.
