Stoeckel has served as president and CEO as well as vice chairman of Wawa Inc. since 2005, but has been working for Wawa for more than 20 years. Through the years, Stoeckel has supported the efforts of dedicated associates for various causes, including, JDRF, for whom Wawa has [image-nocss] raised more than $3 million for research. In addition to his philanthropic initiatives through Wawa, he also serves on the boards of various organizations, including, Amerigas Propane Inc., and Rider University.
"As many as three million Americans are living with type 1 diabetes currently; that is 3 million Americans at risk for blindness, kidney failure, stroke, heart attack and many more devastating complications. The Promise Ball supports the work of JDRF, whose mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 research.
