Wawa Implements Wireless Data Solution

Retailer partners with Catalyst

WAWA, Pa. -- Wawa Inc. has recently partnered with Catalyst International Inc., a certified SAP services partner and global provider of supply chain execution (SCE) solutions, to implement a complete wireless data collection solution, using SAPConsole, across its entire store network.

Wawa, an SAP for Retail client, wanted to leverage its existing SAP investment and migrate from a legacy store inventory solution, which limited its visibility and control, to a native SAP-based solution that would provide real-time connectivity to its core SAP system.

A result of the implementation is that Wawa now has access to key operational metrics that will enable more than 16,000 Wawa associates across five states to make more informed decisions around inventory, item replenishment and order fulfillment.

The handheld solution includes more than a dozen wireless-enabled transactions tailored for Wawa from Catalyst's library of transaction templates. The initial installation was completed in September 2006.

The ability to perform many of the critical inventory transactions on an easy to use handheld device will be an invaluable tool to our store associates, said Michael Kinzly, Wawa project director.

Milwaukee-based Catalyst builds and delivers software-based solutions that enable companies to optimize the performance of their enterprise supply chains. The Logistics solutions delivered by Catalyst are based on its proprietary integrated suite of software, CatalystComplete or the SAP Supply Chain Execution Platform. Catalyst is a certified SAP Services Partner with extensive experience in implementing SAP's Supply Chain Execution Components.

Wawa, Pa.-based Wawa operates more than 550 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
