Verge Retail Unites Sales, Customer Tools

Bring-your-own-device apps increase speed, simplicity

HENDERSON, N.C. -- Verge Retail, a mobile software company for convenience-store distributors and retailers, recently launched Verge Ignite, which interfaces directly with distributors’ mainframe and provides sales representative tools and c-store customer ordering.

Verge Ignite’s customer offerings include delivery check-in; booked item review and warnings; physical inventory counts; and ordering via camera, template, purchase history or scanner. Sales rep features include the ability to order for multiple stores simultaneously, identify core items a store should be carrying, issue credits and create marketing presentations. The sales rep and customer apps each have their own user experience (UX) elements, but share common navigation and logic to simplify training and IT support.

“Historically, customer and sales rep tools have required their own separate, significant investments and implementation processes,” said Carson Kuehne, chief innovations officer for Verge. “We have leveraged Verge’s 10 years of distributor software development expertise and advancements in mobile technology to combine these two pieces into a single solution with one inexpensive and streamlined implementation.”

Because the apps are available for both iOS and Android, distributors can offer BYOD (bring your own device) to retailers or alternatively replace aging but rugged purpose-built scanners with the modern Android equivalent.

The Verge suite of technology platforms includes C-tech and SalesTech for store and sales rep ordering; Replenish for item-level replenishment; Ignite iPad app for sales and marketing; Promote for distributor marketing and order booking; and the Connect personally branded app for retailers.

Henderson, N.C.-based Verge Retail is a subsidiary of convenience-store distributor M.R. Williams Inc.
