PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. -- Police in Northampton County have arrested two men believed to be responsible for stealing expensive scanners from Wawa convenience stores in the tri-state area.
Claudi Argelis Javier, 30, of Hamilton, Ohio, and Peter Sanchez, 30, of Bronx, N.Y., were arrested by Palmer Township Police this past week and charged on an arrest warrant out of Phillipsburg, N.J., Palmer Township Detective Tom Vogel told the Daily Times.
“It is an ongoing investigation,” Vogel said, adding that his department is working with other police departments in to determine if they are the same people involved in the other thefts.
The two suspects are believed to be involved in the theft of the $1,400 scanners from Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. Click here to read more about the thefts.
Police and Wawa officials do not know why the units are being stolen, as they are unable to be used in other application or in more than one store.
