United Supermarkets Offers Fuel Discounts

Will accept vouchers earned through grocery purchases

LUBBOCK, Texas -- United Supermarkets LLC said that it will help its customers combat the rising cost of driving by offering a fuel discount with in-store purchases. Between March 28 and May 22, guests will earn discounts on their fuel purchases at all United Express fuel stations in Lubbock, Amarillo and Wichita Falls, Texas, when they shop at United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos locations.

Guests will receive a fuel voucher discount code on their receipt when they checkout in the store. Tobacco, gift card and fuel purchases will not earn fuel discounts.

The fuel discount may be redeemed at any west Texas United Express fuel station by entering the discount code at the pump or presenting the fuel voucher discount code to the fuel station attendant prior to payment. The discount code is valid for 14 days from the date on receipt and is redeemable on up to 25 gallons of fuel.

Discounts will be provided as follows: $49 to $69.99 spent in-store: 5 cents off per gallon; $70 to $99.99 spent in-store: 10 cents off per gallon; $100 to $149.99 spent in-store: 15 cents off per gallon; and $150 or more spent: 20 cents off per gallon.

"United is dedicated to providing added value and convenience for our guests," said Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer for United Supermarkets. "We hope this promotion will make it easy for guests to save at the pump simply by doing their routine grocery shopping."

Meanwhile, United Supermarkets has begun construction on Lubbock's third Market Street location, with the intent to have the store open in time for Thanksgiving.

The site also will include a 3,100-square-foot United Express convenience store and six-pump (12-car) fuel station offering all fuel grades, including diesel. Officials expect the convenience store to be open by late summer or early fall.

United is investing more than $14 million in the construction of the new Market Street and United Express stores, which together will employ approximately 400 team members.

Now in its 96th year of operation, United Supermarkets is a family-owned grocery chain with stores in 30 markets across north and west Texas. A self-distributing company with its headquarters in Lubbock and distribution centers in Lubbock and Roanoke, United currently operates 51 stores under four distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos United and United Express.
