Thorntons Makes Trax Its Shrink Software

Retailer rolls out loss-prevention solution

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. has rolled out Trax Retail Solutions' ShrinkTrax after a successful pilot project. Trax Retail Solutions offers loss-prevention, store operations control and profit optimization solutions for retail.

ShrinkTrax is a complete system of smart technology and best practices. Our managers and executives will be immediately alerted to shrink problems and can monitor and measure cashier and operational effectiveness. Quick access to useable' information is key to our success, said Tony Miller, senior vice president of Thorntons [image-nocss] Inc.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based tech firm said that ShrinkTrax is the only proactive loss-prevention solution guaranteed to prevent cashier and vendor-related shrink before it happens. Intelligent data mining technology analyzes data points throughout the retail store, arming store managers with alerts and immediate analyses of their shrink-sensitive areas and productivity opportunities, as well as corrective action plans in plain-English text.

The built-in intelligence within our software recognizes that every store has unique characteristics, and starts with its own baseline statistical makeup, said Mike Kienzlen, vice president of sales for Trax. Thorntons is determined to grow store profit through shrink reduction, and we're pleased to work with them on implementing a combined technology and best-practices solution that will solve their business issues.

Other Trax clients include Albertsons, Winn-Dixie, Ahold, Osco Drug, SUPERVALU, Harris Teeter, CUB Foods, Farm Fresh Markets, Wesco and other food, drug, convenience and retail companies.

Thorntons, Louisville, Ky., operates more than 150 convenience stores in five states.
