Thompson Launches HLT

Recruiting firm targets c-store industry

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- After 30 years in the executive recruiting business, industry mainstay Haskel Thompson has founded a new company—HLT Enterprises LLC—to serve the convenience store industry. HLT's Global Human Resource group focuses on executive placements in retail operations, technology, marketing, engineering, supply chain and finance. Fort Myers, Fla.-based HLT Enterprises entered the marketplace with the goal of returning personalized focus and customer service to the human-resource management and recruiting industries.

"As I have gone through the planning and development [image-nocss] process of launching a new business strategy, I have given strong consideration to what practices have worked well and which ones have not," Thompson said. "I have engaged many of my friends and clients in our industry for council on what they felt could be improved when it came to executive recruiters. The response has been overwhelming: an overall quality experience, the relationships developed, a reputation for honesty, integrity, good communications, and follow through. [This] is always a successful recipe for best practices."

The HLT Enterprises team understands that every success story is based on personal relationships and will bring this approach to each and every professional search that they undertake, according to Thompson, who entered the world of executive recruiting 30 years ago after 19 years serving a senior role in operations, retail marketing and foodservice within the convenience and petroleum sector.

Over the years Thompson has placed senior- and mid-level executives, including CEOs, presidents, vice presidents and board members with some of the country's Fortune 500 companies. Just as importantly, he has worked hand in hand with scores of smaller, independent and family-operated companies as a needs analysis and succession planning consultant to bring key talent into the fold.

According to the company, Thompson believes that a major component of the quality experience that client companies and candidates seek originates in having a well-defined process and following it. To facilitate this, HLT Enterprises uses a 15-step search process that includes a comprehensive-needs analysis, candidate sourcing that uses a vast network of industry contacts developed over four decades, and screening and interviews that guarantee only the best and brightest industry talent is presented for consideration to client companies.

In addition, HLT Enterprises uses cutting-edge technologies that allow identification of and contact with even the most passive candidates, according to the company. Finally, Thompson makes sure that his firm stays in step with the recruiting industry as a whole, with continuous training, networking and sharing of best practices always at the forefront.
