TA Releases TruckSmart 2.0 Mobile App

Adds UltraONE Rewards access, "instant shower" feature

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) has released version 2.0 of its TruckSmart mobile application for Android and iPhone smartphone platforms. Version 2.0 continues the track record of the popular 1.0 by bringing even more first-in-the-industry features. TruckSmart 2.0 gives professional drivers the power to access their UltraONE Rewards Program account information including points balances, shower credits and recent transactions without stopping at the driver kiosk.

TruckSmart 2.0 also features upgraded search capabilities, and each location's amenities [image-nocss] screen has a place to show special at-location promotions and events. Navigational enhancements also make it easier to find locations and amenities within the app.

"TruckSmart 2.0 is a blockbuster; a category killer. Drivers have asked for the UltraONE loyalty club features we've added. But what I am really excited about is the instant shower feature. UltraONE members can reserve a shower from their sleeper cabs, from the store, or from anywhere in the country, without stopping at the driver kiosk," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TA. "TA and Petro are in the business of helping professional drivers be successful at their business. TruckSmart 2.0 features allow drivers to save time and quickly get back on the road."

Other enhancements built into the new version include the ability for users to search for locations by highway, to share their location coordinates, and to place a call to TA customer service with the press of a button. The new instant shower feature tells the driver if there is a wait for a shower and will alert the driver when the shower is ready for them. Ready showers will be held open for 15 minutes.

The app continues to feature the capabilities from Version 1.0, released March 1, 2011, including restaurant, service and travel store specials; location mapping and directions to all TA and Petro locations; site amenities; one-touch calling for RoadSquad 24-hour emergency roadside assistance; as well as real time shower wait times and parking space availability (updated every two hours).

New app users can download TruckSmart 2.0 at www.tatravelcenters.com/trucksmart. TruckSmart 1.0 users will see an update notification on their smartphone app screen.

TA continues to work on more TruckSmart capabilities and expects to release Version 3.0 soon.

In other company news, TA said that it has completed its nationwide rollout of Noregon Systems Inc.'s JPRO Fleet Diagnostics, a truck repair diagnostic tool for all makes. The heavy-duty diagnostic software is installed on portable computers, which connect to any truck's diagnostic port to provide an immediate display of fault codes and key vehicle component information. The new tool will allow for faster diagnosis and resolution of mechanical and related issues and get drivers back up and running.

"The JPRO diagnostic tool is the most complete commercial vehicle diagnostic tool on the market and will have a huge positive impact on truck repair services we provide to our customers," said O'Brien. "The ability to plug directly into a vehicle's nerve center to pinpoint issues is a wildly powerful capability to add to the already broad range of capabilities of our master technicians. Whether it's the engine, the transmission, or the tractor or trailer braking system, the JPRO diagnostic tool has the potential to decrease downtime for our customers and get them back on the road faster than ever before."

All of TA and Petro:Lube's truck service technicians are trained in troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on heavy duty truck systems, including using the JPRO diagnostic tool.

The JPRO tool works with original equipment software to provide an accurate diagnosis of issues in today's highly complex vehicles. TA and Petro:Lube are running Noregon's JPRO version 5.0-- with diagnostic abilities for heavy duty vehicles through the 2010 model year, including components manufactured by Allison, Bendix, Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Daimler Trucks, Eaton Fuller, International/Navistar, Mack, Mercedes Benz, Meritor WABCO, Volvo and ZF Friedrichshafen.

Combined, TA and Petro have 220 Truck Service and Petro:Lube locations, with more than 2,500 technicians on staff, many of whom are ASE-certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. These technicians also provide roadside truck repair services through TA's RoadSquad 24-hour emergency roadside service.
