Southwest Convenience Stores Continues to Support Troops

USO flag donation program kicks off Military Appreciation Month

ARLINGTON, Va. -- For the second consecutive year, Southwest Convenience Stores LLC, the largest U.S. 7-Eleven convenience store licensee, and the United Service Organizations (USO) have launched a fundraising partnership. Throughout May, participating 7-Eleven stores in New Mexico and Texas will offer customers the opportunity to demonstrate their support for America's troops by making a $1 donation to the USO and signing a specially designed flag to be hung in each store.

Last year's campaign raised more than $24,000 for the USO's morale-boosting programs and services worldwide.

"[image-nocss] After the success of last year's partnership, we are excited to once again partner with Southwest Convenience Stores," said Edward A. Powell, USO president and CEO. "With this support, the USO can continue to make a difference in the lives of service members and their families."

John West, director of sales and marketing for Southwest Convenience Stores, Odessa, Texas, said, "We thank the USO for the work they perform every day for our military members and their families. As we approach Military Appreciation Month, I can't think of a better time to support our troops and their families around the world."

The nonprofit USO currently operates more than 131 centers worldwide, 11 of which are located in Texas. The organization and each center provide morale, welfare and recreational services to U.S. military personnel and their families. The USO is supported by AT&T Inc., BAE Systems North America, Clear Channel Communications, The Coca-Cola Co., Gallery Furniture, S & K Sales Co. and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. Other corporate donors, including the United Way and Combined Federal Campaign, have joined thousands of individual donors to support the USO.
