"Networks and network security can be complex, and [image-nocss] c-store managers by their nature are not technical," said Trinette Huber, manager of Information Privacy and Security in Sinclair's PCI Program. "Using Vendor Safe is like purchasing an in-house network departmentthey provide their expertise, capabilities, support and technical know-how to protect our credit card data from these thieves. The PCI implementation has been accomplished in less than 30 days."
Vendor Safe implemented its Self Configuring Firewall Architecture solution for Sinclair c-stores so that the POS system and the backoffice system could be protected in separate security zones. Zoning allows for segmentation within a single network providing security between the POS system and the backoffice system without impeding the day-to-day workload.
"When we began working with Sinclair, they had very specific requirements they were looking for in a security system including zoned levels of security, a fixed level of expense, little to no impact on daily business operations and minimal efforts to implement," said Bill Pickard, COO of Vendor Safe. "Our remote installation requires no onsite visits, and we are able to meet Sinclair's data security goals."
Salt Lake City-based Sinclair operates as the major oil brand supplying fuel to more than 2,500 company and distributor-operated c-stores in more than 22 states.
Vendor Safe Technologies develops, deploys and supports security technologies. The company's patent-pending Self Configuring Firewall Architecture and Global Security Mesh / VPN enables PCI Level 2, 3 and 4 merchants to become PCI compliant within 30 days. Vendor Safe solutions are secured by firewalls from Juniper Networks.
