Rutter's Teaches Entrepreneurship

Retailer donates to education foundation, business program

YORK, Pa. -- TheRutter's companies recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Panther Foundation, a nonprofit group that raises money to support scholarships and other programs of Central York School District.

Earlier this month, Rutter's presented a check for $25,000 to Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania to support its Exchange City, which will be visited by more than 7,000 students during the current school year. Students learn about American enterprise by working in a life-sized replica of a city that comprises 14 businesses.[image-nocss]

In 2005, York, Pa.-based Rutter's will make charitable contributions of approximately $200,000, it said.

Family owned and third-generation managed, the Rutter's companies are Rutter's Farm Stores, Rutter's Dairy and M&G Realty, a real-estate holding company. The companies employ more than 800 people in central Pennsylvania.
