Road Ranger Employees Give Away 1,000 Turkeys

In lieu of Christmas party, gift, employees choose to help needy
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Throughout its Midwest stores, Road Ranger employees are hearing about and witnessing the difficult times their customers and communities are facing during the current economic downturn. This year, the employees of Road Ranger chose to forgo their annual Christmas party in order to spread a little Christmas spirit to those whose holiday season may not be as bright. In lieu of the Christmas party, and as part of their Christmas gift from the company, the employees supported the idea of receiving a turkey to give away to those in need within their community. Each [image-nocss] of Road Ranger's 1,000 employees received a free butterball turkey to donate or otherwise give to those in need.

"Hopefully, a lot of struggling families will benefit from this idea," said Betty Evans and her staff at the Road Ranger in Dry Ridge, Ky. Employee Jahquay Hyles added, "It's good to be blessed with a great job and money in the pocket, but it is an even greater blessing to be able to pass those blessings along to someone else."

And Road Ranger employees came up with other creative ways to further their generosity. Store Manager Mary Roaden (Crescent Springs, Ky.) and her team decided to pool their turkeys and hold a raffle for them. "We are going to use the proceeds from the raffle to help buy Christmas [presents] for orphans."

Jeff Harris, director of operations, said, "In a time when people are looking to receive, the employees at Road Ranger, in their true Ranger spirit, have decided to give. I couldn't be more proud of my co-workers."

Headquartered in Rockford, Ill., Road Ranger is a leading Midwest retail petroleum convenience store chain that operates company locations in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin and Ohio. Founded in 1984, the company currently employs approximately 1,000 individuals and is estimated to reach approximately $900 million in revenues for the current year.
