Ricker's Tweetup Fillup'

Retailer offering free gasoline through social media promotion
ANDERSON, Ind. -- Ricker Oil Co. is stretching its social media legs by giving away 25 tanks of gasoline through a promotion that it is calling "Ricker's Tweetup Fillup," the company said on Twitter.

The rules, as explained by Nancy Ricker and Jonathan Bausman in a YouTube video clip (see below, or click here), are as follows:

1. Follow @RickerStores on Twitter.

2. Watch for Ricker's post each day at 5:00 p.m. from September 27 to October 1.

3. Come to the store and be one of the [image-nocss] first five people to say "Ricker's Tweetup Fillup" to the clerk.

4. Enjoy a free tank of gasoline for your car, SUV or pickup truck.

Nancy Ricker is owner of Ricker Oil with her husband Jay Ricker, chairman of Ricker Oil and chairman of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).

Bausma is Ricker Oil's director of media and brand development, and he also heads up the retailer's social media strategy, so the company is no stranger to social media. Along with Twitter, the company also has aFacebook page and aYouTube channel.

The company has run "Text & Win" promotions awarding fountain drinks, iPads and televisions.

And Ricker Oil is posting its fuel prices to GasBuddy.com through KSS Fuel's PriceNet to keep motorists informed of its competitively priced fuel. The chain also offers a smartphone app with store locator through GasBuddy Retail Solutions. (Click here for previous CSP Daily News coverage.)
