Pinnacle Supports Coinstar Prepaid Cards

Retailers can sell, activate, process payments, check balances from POS

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Pinnacle Corp. said that Pinnacle's Palm POS now provides integrated support for Coinstar's Pay As You Go product suite. Retailers can now have the added convenience of selling, activating, processing payments and checking current balances of prepaid cards offered by Coinstar E-Payment Services all from the point of sale.

By integrating this functionality into the POS, the retailer eliminates the additional hardware device previously needed at the store for this purpose, which saves valuable countertop space and provides the added benefit of reduced shrink through [image-nocss] added accountability.

Pinnacle's Palm POS supports the full range of Coinstar's Pay As You Go products including prepaid wireless, long-distance phone, third party gift cards, prepaid debit cards and private-label gift cards.

Denise Lewis, retail solutions manager at Arlington, Texas-based Pinnacle, said, "Coinstar cards allow us to broaden our support of prepaid products for the c-store market. Prepaid card products continue to be an important part of c-store retailers overall strategies to provide alternative lower cost payments and promoting their own branded gift card programs."

Open-architecture Palm POS runs under the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. Palm POS interfaces to a variety of devices including security cameras, DVR, lottery, money order, loyalty solutions, payment networks and prepaid solutions. Nationwide, it is used to process approximately $9 billion in total convenience store sales and is certified on 15 payment networks, the company said.
