PDI Passes PCATS

Completes conformance validation certificate program

ALEXANDRIA, Va. The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) said that Professional Datasolutions Inc. (PDI) has successfully completed the PCATS Conformance Validation Certificate program.

The certification validates the PDI/Resource Management Series software solution as fully conforming to specific use instances for the PCATS-NAXML POS (Point-of-Sale) Back Office Standards. These standards have been designed to facilitate integration and two-way communications between POS and backoffice systems.

Greg [image-nocss] Gilkerson, PDI's president said, While standards-based interfaces are not a silver bullet, they are a huge step in the right direction to make our industry, and specifically our customers, more competitive with other retail channels.

The purpose of the PCATS-NAXML Conformance Validation Certification Program is to establish and validate system provider's baseline document exchange functionality.

John Hervey, PCATS executive director and CEO said, The PDI Certification creates the opportunity for easier integration of systems from disparate vendors that should save money for retailers. PDI has been a leader in standards, and we commend them for being among the first to complete the PCATS Conformance Validation Certificate program.

These certifications should reduce the time and cost required to complete interfaces, PCATS said. The resulting interfaces empower retailers to do business electronically and to more quickly realize the associated benefits of lower labor costs, increased accuracy and more timely information.

Temple, Texas-based PDI delivers enterprisewide software and services that meet convenience store and wholesale petroleum marketers' specialized needs.

PCATS was founded in September 2003 to continue the development and maintenance of standards work initiated under the National Association of Convenience Stores' (NACS) Technology Standards Project. With 160 retailer and supplier members, the group's membership represents more than 22,000 convenience stores.
