Parkland Industries Rolls Out VersaPOS

Fuel management system deployed at 50 stations; 147 more to come

RED DEER, Alberta -- Fifty gas station convenience stores managed by Parkland Industries Ltd. are rolling out the VersaPOS Fuel Management solution from SYSTIME, a leading business and technology service provider. This implementation completes phase one of the project for Parkland, Canada's largest independent fuel distributor and marketer. In subsequent phases, the VersaPOS Fuel Management solution will be deployed at 147 additional stores.

Prior to the implementation of VersaPOS, Parkland used multiple platforms, formats and applications within its convenience stores [image-nocss] which led to inefficiencies in maintaining multiple systems. To improve operational efficiency, Parkland chose VersaPOS to become the company-wide standard for its stations, integrating technologies and data from the gasoline pumps, c-stores and its recently implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

The VersaPOS Fuel Management solution provides Parkland with a point-of-sale (POS) solution, Gas Pump Interface (GPI) and integration middleware that can integrate into any ERP system. In addition to standard in-store POS functions, VersaPOS Fuel Management operates on site providing backoffice reporting and centralized pricing updates from the head office.

"We believe the VersaPOS Fuel Management solution will bring significant benefits and efficiencies to our retail operations," said Bob Espey, COO at Parkland. "In addition, the real-time access to sales and operational information will improve our ability to react and adjust to market conditions, provide better market intelligence and enhance our ability to execute on Parkland's retail strategy."

Vishal Grover, president and CEO of SYSTIME, said, "SYSTIME's VersaPOS Fuel Management solution provides great benefits to companies that operate convenience stores including integration of store and forecourt operation with the head office.... We believe the VersaPOS product suite will provide Parkland with greater operational efficiencies, enhanced ability to compete and improved satisfaction amongst employees, users and clientele."

VersaPOS, in its fifth generation, offers in-store CRM, loyalty and end-to-end integration capability to an Oracle J D Edwards ERP or a client's legacy backoffice systems. VersaPOS is PA-DSS compliant by the PCI-SSC and is currently undergoing EMV certification.

San Francisco-based SYSTIME, a subsidiary of CMS group, is a leading global business and technology service provider with customers in 50 countries.

Red Deer, Alberta-based Parkland Industries, Canada's largest independent fuel distribution and marketing company, delivers fuel products from regional refineries to retail, commercial and reseller customers through its network of 620 retail locations, 77 commercial branches, 70 cardlock locations and through wholesale agreements.
