OMEGA-W.Va. Raises $156,000 for CMN in 30 Days

Customers purchase 90,000 miracle balloons to support cause

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia gasoline retailers, petroleum marketers, independent grocers and state residents raised more than $156,000 during the month of August to help children suffering from disease and injury, the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA) recently announced.

Jan Vineyard, executive director of OMEGA, said, Our members, with the gracious support of the West Virginia public, truly made miracles happen during this campaign to raise money for the WVU Hospital's Children's Miracle Network (CMN). We can all be [image-nocss] proud in knowing that we will have helped make sick children's lives, as well as their parent's, a little easier.

Vineyard said the campaign began on August 1 and ended on September 1, and more than 500 convenience stores, gas stations and grocery stores from across the state participated. The original goal for the campaign was $100,000, and the effort raised $156,182.

Peggy Myers-Smith, coordinator of CMN at WVU Children's Hospital, said, I want to thank the members of OMEGA and ExxonMobil for sponsoring this wonderful fundraising program. This will benefit kids of every age and background in West Virginia.

Greg Darby, president of Little General Stores in Beckley, W.Va., and chairman of the OMEGA/Children's Miracle Network campaign, said, OMEGA member and associate companies stepped up to the plate in a huge way and the outpouring of support we received from state residents was astounding. We appreciate everyone's efforts.
