Former Convenience Store Retailer to Lead Kansas Lottery

Presta brings retailing, state government experience to new role

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas -- Terry Presta, the former CEO of Presto Convenience Stores, is the new executive director of the Kansas Lottery, Gov. Sam Brownback announced Wednesday.

Former Convenience Store Retailer to Lead Kansas Lottery

Presta of Overland Park, Kansas, will take over Jan. 2. One of the interim directors, former Brownback aide Sherriene Jones-Sontag, will remain as deputy director, while Dennis Taylor will retire, according to a report in the Wichita Business Journal.

Presta was president and CEO of Overland Park-based Presto Convenience Stores until January 2013. He brings almost 30 years of experience as a business owner/operator to his role as executive director of the Kansas Lottery. Presta also served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999.

The Pantry bought Presto’s 47 convenience stores in 2010.

“Terry will be a great addition to the Kansas Lottery,” said Gov. Brownback. “He is bringing his wealth of experience as a Kansas Lottery retailer, a business owner and a former legislator. I am confident Terry will bring new perspective and energy to the lottery as we focus on growing sales and increasing transfers to the state.”
