Circle K Taps Cardtronics

Will provide processing services for retailer's ATMs in Midwest

HOUSTON -- Circle K has chosen Cardtronics Inc. to process ATM transactions for 650 Circle K-owned and -operated ATMs in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions.

Cardtronics, a major operator of ATMs, began developing its own proprietary ATM transaction processing network in 2006. In addition to the Circle K ATMs, Cardtronics currently processes transactions for 14,000 Cardtronics-operated ATMs. All remaining Cardtronics ATMs will transition to Cardtronics' in-house processing network during 2008.

"Cardtronics' processing network allows us to provide additional value to our merchant [image-nocss] customers, maintain tighter control over the consumer experience and provide new value-added services that will benefit consumers and Cardtronics' merchant customers alike," said Jerry Garcia, Cardtronics' Chief Information Officer. "Through our processing network, Cardtronics can provide service for any ATM, even when not owned and operated by Cardtronics."

Houston-based Cardtronics is the world's largest owner/operator of ATMs, it said. It operates more than 31,600 ATMs across its portfolio with units in every major U.S. market as well as approximately 2,000 ATMs throughout the UK and more than 1,000 ATMs in Mexico. Major merchant-clients include 7-Eleven, A&P, Albertson's, BP, Chevron, Costco, CVS/pharmacy, Duane Reade, ExxonMobil, Hess, Rite Aid, Sunoco, Target and Walgreens.

Circle K Stores is a subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., Laval, Quebec. In North America, Couche-Tard is the second largest independent convenience store operator in terms of number of stores. Couche-Tard's network is comprised of 5,637 c-stores, 3,434 of which include motor fuel dispensing, located in nine large geographic markets, including six in the United States covering 29 states and three in Canada covering six provinces.
