Circle K to Expand Bitcoin ATM Network

LAVAL, Quebec — Circle K is partnering with Bitcoin Depot to produce a Bitcoin ATM network across both the United States and Canada with more than 700 Bitcoin ATMs in 30 states already installed.

Bitcoin Depot ATMs are kiosks that enable users to exchange cash for cryptocurrency, allowing for in-person transactions that give users immediate access to bitcoin and more than 30 other cryptocurrencies.

“We’re thrilled to create a long-term, strategic partnership with Circle K and to expand our footprint internationally with a global leader in convenience and fuel retail,” said Brandon Mintz, CEO of Bitcoin Depot. “Through our collaborative partnership, we aim to provide new ways for people to buy bitcoin instantly in a familiar environment in their local neighborhood Circle K.”

To use a Bitcoin ATM, a customer inserts cash after providing his or her crypto wallet address, and crypto is sent immediately to the wallet. The process, from signing up for an account to completing a transaction, takes about one to two minutes. Customers can locate Bitcoin Depot ATMs at bitcoindepot.com, which lists all Circle K locations with bitcoin ATMs.

Bitcoin Depot is a cryptocurrency ATM network based in Atlanta. The network of more than 3,000 cryptocurrency ATMs that enable users to buy more than 30 cryptocurrencies.

In May, Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. began enabling digital currency payments via Flexa, a digital payments network, to provide customers with the ability to pay for items inside the store or fill up their vehicles at the pump using digital currencies such as bitcoin, ether, litecoin, dogecoin and more.

Circle K is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., Laval, Quebec. Couche-Tard operates in 26 countries and territories, with more than 14,200 stores, more than 7,000 in the United States covering 48 states.
