LAKE JACKSON, Texas --ABC World News with Charles Gibson has discovered Buc-ee's Ltd. The news program featured the chain of 30 convenience stores in Texas in a segment this week focusing on what made the locations famoustheir bathrooms.
Buc-ee's touts the cleanliness of its facilities from interstate billboards with slogans such as "Only 262 Miles to Buc-ee's. You Can Hold It." and "Restrooms So Clean We Leave Mints in the Urinals."
ABC News correspondent [image-nocss] Ryan Owens spoke with Buc-ee's owner "Beaver" Alpin (thus, the name Buc-ee's and the rodent mascot). Alpin, he said, "follows a simple business modelit's all about the bathrooms."
Each Buc-ee's location offers dozens of private stalls, said the report, and attendants "who never stop cleaning."
The Lake Jackson, Texas-based chainwhich has more than 1,000 employeesopened four new locations this year, for a total of 30 stores.
Buc-ee's, like its eastern cousins Wawa and Sheetz, has a huge following of devoted fans, who post testimonials on the Buc-ee's Beaver Blog,photos on the chain's website and videos on YouTube (click here for a previous CSP Daily News feature about a Buc-ee's fan who posted a video on YouTube). The chain'sFacebook page has 76,425 fans.
The stores also offer coffee, fountain, foodservice, snacks and more, as well as Buc-ee's merchandise and collectibles such as t-shirts, mugs and more.
