Bosselman Selects DTN Exchange

Technology delivers electronic order management in real-time

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- DTN, a business-to-business provider of real-time market, news and weather information services, said that Bosselman Energy, the wholesale supply division of Bosselman Family of Cos., has implemented DTN Exchange, a fuel trading exchange with dynamic prices that fluctuate with the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).

Bosselman Energy is focused on providing efficient supply and distribution of motor fuel products to customers, bringing value by working to drive out costs and improve customers' profitability, it said. When it buys [image-nocss] fuel on the DTN Exchange, it can take advantage of real-time prices as the market goes up and down during the day.As well, extended lifting terms at the rack gives a measure of predictability, added DTN, which helps Bosselman Energy better schedule dispatch.

We're helping to help improve our customers' profitability by diversifying our buying options through the DTN Exchange, said Rick Landenberger, director of supply and business development for Bosselman Energy, Grand Island, Neb. In a falling market, we can actually purchase below the lowest posted price at a terminal and pass that competitive price advantage on to our customers. Using the DTN Exchange to lock in an advantageous price during rising markets, we can also protect ourselves and our customers against future increases.

Real-time pricing from the DTN Exchange helps Bosselman Energy profit from fuel volatility in the marketplace, said Robert Gordon, CEO of Omaha-based DTN. Electronic transaction data helps innovative companies like Bosselman Energy realize greater efficiencies that bring additional benefits to their customers.

The DTN Exchange is an online trading platform that enables Bosselman Energy to make decisions at the speed of the Internet. There's no need to contact multiple market repseverything they need to know is right online and they can access the market's live prices without wasted time, DTN said. Analysis tools in the DTN Exchange help Bosselman Energy evaluate purchase options and make better and faster fuel buying decisions. With the ability to make market orders during the day and place after-hours bids to suppliers, Bosselman Energy has the opportunity to buy at spot-market related prices 24 hours a day.

Information handling in the DTN Exchange includes instant notification of trades and a trading report that tracks transactions. Bosselman Energy can integrate data into their back-office processes to improve the efficiencies of hedging and risk management activities.

DTN delivers on-demand market information, commodity cash prices, industry news, in-depth analysis and location-specific weather to more than 120,000 subscribers through DTN for agriculture, refined fuels and trading markets and DTN/Meteorlogix.
