AT&T to Manage SAP Applications for Wawa

Retailer expects to reduce IT costs

WAWA, Pa. -- AT&T is helping Mid-Atlantic convenience retailer Wawa Inc. to reduce information technology costs by transitioning its existing SAP applications to a fully managed AT&T solution. Wawa signed a new five-year contract with AT&T to migrate and host its existing SAP applications, a landscape that consists of more than 30 servers used by more than 15,000 employees.

To facilitate minimal impact on Wawa's 24/7 store locations, AT&T's migration of Wawa's key applications onto a fully managed AT&T environment is planned to occur in less than 18 hours. [image-nocss] Following the migration, AT&T will monitor and manage Wawa's SAP solution to support efficient functioning of all business-critical applications, with dedicated AT&T teams available to promptly resolve issues and streamline application performance. Wawa will also use the AT&T Managed Application Services Tool (MAST) available via AT&T BusinessDirect, which will allow Wawa employees direct access to the SAP system via the Internet to view, monitor and analyze solution performance. AT&T disaster recovery services will help facilitate the continuity of applications in the event of a disaster.

"A secure, reliable infrastructure for our applications is extremely important to our business, as it helps ensure that our systems run efficiently and without interruption," said Julius Colina, IT manager of hosting strategy at Wawa. "We are confident that AT&T Business Solutions will effectively manage our applications and allow us to focus our internal resources on fulfilling the daily needs of our customers."
