76 to Sponsor 2017 Dynamo Season

Fuel brand, now under Motiva, partners with soccer club

HOUSTON -- The 2017 Houston Dynamo season will be presented by 76 brand gasoline, the soccer club has announced. The sponsorship makes the 76 brand the exclusive retail gasoline sponsor of Houston Dynamo and is the club’s fourth official premier partner.

As part of the multiyear agreement, the Southwest Gate at BBVA Compass Stadium will be known as the "76 Gate." In addition, 76 will be the title sponsor of the Houston Dynamo Unified Special Olympics team, helping to provide uniforms and travel for the team throughout the season.

“We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between the Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium and the 76 retail gasoline brand,” said Steven Powell, Dynamo executive vice president and chief revenue officer. “Both 76 and the Dynamo organization share similar goals, and we are confident this synergy between the two brands will not only create very positive results for all three of our properties and 76, but will deliver a great deal of value to our fans as well.”

As the presenting sponsor for the season, there will be 76 signage throughout the stadium, plus in-game and retailer promotional tie-ins, halftime on-field fan events, media assets, premium tickets and VIP hospitality.

“We know how passionate Houston Dynamo fans are, and we are just as passionate about the communities where we operate and market our fuels,” said Bill Spurgeon, vice president of fuels, sales and marketing for Motiva Enterprises LLC. “Partnering with the Houston Dynamo enables Motiva to support our hometown teams and introduce the 76 brand—an iconic gasoline brand—to the Houston marketplace.”

Through an exclusive long-term brand license agreement, Houston-based Motiva markets 76 gasoline in 26 eastern and Gulf Coast states; 76 is a registered trademark owned by Phillips 66 Co. Motiva will launch the 76 brand in its operating geography in January 2017 with plans to bring a localized approach to the Houston market through media, sponsorships and on-site retail activations.

The 76 brand, known for its iconic orange ball, is available at more than 1,800 retail locations across the country.

Houston-based Motiva refines, distributes and markets petroleum products through three refineries in the Gulf Coast region. It is owned equally by affiliates of Saudi Aramco and Shell Oil Co.
