The Top Halloween Candy in Every U.S. State

The National Confectioners Association predicted this year’s spooky holiday to garner nearly $3 billion of consumers’ candy dollars when all the trick-or-treating ended.
But not all candies are created equal.
Online candy seller, the Candy Store, Los Angeles, released its annual list of the most sought-after Halloween candies in each U.S. state, based on the number of pounds ordered over the previous year.
Here are the top Halloween candies in every U.S. state …
Candy Corn
Candy Corn, the orange, yellow and white corn-syrup-based candy first made in 1880, was the most popular Halloween treat in seven states last year, and no other candy finished on top in more than five states. Today, the candies are made by the Jelly Belly Co. The states include Alabama, Iowa, Idaho, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada and Rhode Island.
Skittles
Mars Wrigley Confectionery’s sugar-shell Skittles was the most popular in five states: California, Hawaii, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are one of two products by the Hershey Co. to make the list. The peanut butter and chocolate cups took the top spot in four states: Kansas, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming.
Milky Way
Mars Wrigley's 95-year-old chocolate and caramel Milky Way candy bar was the most popular Halloween treat in Maryland, Missouri and Vermont.
Jolly Ranchers
Hershey's Jolly Ranchers, the sweet and sour hard candies, topped the rankings in Arizona, Georgia and Utah.
Hot Tamales
Just Born's chewy, cinnamon Hot Tamales candy was the most popular in Indiana, North Dakota and Virginia.
Sour Patch Kids
Mondelez International’s sugar-coated sour candy Sour Patch Kids was the top Halloween treat in three East Coast states: Massachusetts, Maine and New York.
Twix
Mars Wrigley’s chocolate and biscuit candy bar Twix led the way in two states: Arkansas and Colorado.
Snickers
The Snickers nougat, caramel and peanut chocolate bar from Mars Wrigley was the most popular Halloween treat in Arizona and Florida.
Salt Water Taffy
Unbranded salt water taffy topped the rankings in Nebraska and Washington.
Tootsie Pops

Dubble Bubble Gum
Dubble Bubble Gum, the pink bubble gum crafted by Tootsie Roll Industries, led the way in Montana and Oklahoma.
Starburst
Mars Wrigley's fruit-flavored Starburst candies were the most popular confectionery item in New Hampshire and South Dakota.
M&M's
And M&M's chocolate candies from Mars Wrigley garnered the top spot in Ohio and North Carolina.

There were eight single-state winners on Candy Store’s list. They included:
- Almond Joy, Connecticut
- Life Savers, Delaware
- Kit Kat, Illinois
- Swedish Fish, Kentucky
- Lemonheads, Louisiana
- 3 Musketeers, Mississippi
- Butterfinger, Wisconsin
- Blow Pop, West Virginia
