Prairie City Bakery Buys Tina's, El Gallo Giro Lines From Artimex

Cookie maker acquires West Coast, Hispanic pastry brands

VERNON HILLS, Ill. -- Prairie City Bakery has purchased the Tina's Gourmet Pastries brand and the El Gallo Giro Artisian Mexican Pastry business from Artimex, Santa Fe Springs, Calif.

Tina's is a West Coast brand that includes more than 30 individually wrapped items including "Monster Muffins," mini-muffins, individual cakes, pound cakes, cookies, danish, brownies and cinnamon rolls.

The El Gallo Giro line of products consists of 15 individually wrapped traditional Hispanic Pastries, including conchas, empanadas, polvorons, elote and other assorted Mexican breads.

"We welcome both the Tina's and El Gallo Giro product lines to the Prairie City Bakery family," said Bill Skeens, president of Prairie City Bakery.

"We think both the Tina's Brand and the El Gallo Giro products are a great fit for Prairie City Bakery and are excited to introduce and grow both these fine brands with our customers," he said.

Vernon Hills, Ill.-based Prairie City Bakery provides frozen thaw-and-sell bakery product to the foodservice, convenience store, drug chain and military markets and are currently sold in all 50 states, along with more than 10 foreign countries. Products are currently sold in more than 20,000 outlets, both under the Prairie City Bakery brand and are also private labeled for some of the leading companies in the United States. In addition, Prairie City Bakery is the "Official Cookie of Cookie of the Chicago Cubs.. Prairie City Bakery was founded in 1994.
