IRVING, Texas -- To help mark the 50th anniversary of the Slurpee frozen dispensed beverage and coinciding with the second annual "Bring Your Own Cup Day" Slurpee promotion, 7-Eleven Inc. has rolled out a new sweet snack, the "Slurpee Donut."
The convenience-store retailer has created a Wild Cherry Slurpee-flavored cake doughnut, complete with red sugar sprinkles that resemble the texture of the frozen drink, reported Brand Eating.
The chain is offering a promotion for a Slurpee and a Slurpee Donut for $2. The doughnut are priced individually at 99 cents.
"This means Slurpee Donut dunking is officially a thing now," 7-Eleven said on its website.
7-Eleven held its Bring Your Own Cup (#BYOCupDay) promotion March 18 and 19.
Customers could bring in "just about anything remotely resembling a cup" to participating 7-Eleven stores and fill it with any Slurpee flavor for $1.50, the average cost of a medium Slurpee drink. Each person could bring in one cuplike container, which had to fit upright through an in-store display with a 10-inch diameter hole. Cups could not be more than 9 inches wide and 11 inches tall and had to be leak-proof, safe and sanitary.
7-Eleven also sold 64-ounce Mason jar-style cups sporting the Slurpee "Fiftee" (50) celebration logo for $4.99, with the first fill for free.
