Yesway Acquires 35 C-Stores in Texas

Wes-T-Go, Chillerz in Abilene market join Iowa-based chain

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Convenience-store retailer Yesway is expanding with the acquisition of 35 Wes-T-Go and Chillerz Convenience Stores in Abilene, Texas.

These new stores will be added to the company’s existing portfolio of 38 locations currently operating in Iowa and Kansas. By the end of second-quarter 2017, Yesway expects to have more than 100 stores under management, it said.

The company also has a “robust” acquisition pipeline, it said, and plans to acquire, improve and rebrand approximately 500 convenience stores as Yesway in select regions of the United States over the next several years.

“As we acquire these stores, our goal is to build on the good work of the previous owner, Don Poindexter, whose dedication and commitment to the community is legendary. Don’s is a legacy we plan to live up to,” said Brian Trout, senior vice president of operations for Yesway. “We’re grateful to the Wes-T-Go team for building such a loyal and consistent customer base, and are eager to continue to serve, get to know and be part of the community.”

Thomas Nicholas Trkla, chairman and CEO of Yesway, said, “At Yesway, we’re committed to providing our customers with a terrific shopping experience. We look forward to becoming an essential member of the Abilene-area community as we further expand the Yesway brand.”

Abilene-based Wes-T-Go has been in business for more than 60 years. The original Wes-T-Go c-store chain was founded in 1954 and has been operated by the current ownership since 1989. The company added the Chillerz brand and three truckstop locations in 2011.

BW Gas & Convenience Holdings LLC, doing business as Yesway, is based in West Des Moines, Iowa. It is a unit of private-equity investment firm Brookwood Financial Partners LC, Beverly, Mass.
